Just be healthy

After leaving Weight Watchers earlier this year, I decided instead of paying for a program that got me jump started on my weight loss-I wanted to rather focus on just living a healthy lifestyle.  The counting points, the attending meetings, ...I just wanted different things now.  Don't get me wrong, Weight Watchers is a great option for people to lose weight and keep it off.  It has worked for me a few times in my life.  But I have different priorities now.
I had developed a routine of exercising and thought I would keep going in this general direction.  As I continued to run and work out...my food choices were NOT the best.  The amount of food I was eating was not the best.  Meanwhile over the next several months, I gained close to 15 lbs.  It was getting harder to run.  I was getting slower (not faster) and I decided I needed to make another change.
At the same time, another friend was starting a group called the 24-day Advocare challenge.  I didn't know much about it but looked into it.  This friend is an Ironman and trains to take care of his body-I trusted this.  I ordered the materials and had a new plan to follow.
I set myself up for healthier food, better portions and supplemented by the Advocare products.  I got excited waiting for it to start.  On July 15th I began the first part of the challenge-the 10 day cleanse.  It's not as bad as it sounds.  The cleanse got my body clean and used to the portion sizes/body changes coming.  I lost 9 lbs in the first 10 days!  I knew my body was going to react well.
I am now 11 days in and today started the Max Phase for helping my body lose more.
We are eating healthier meals as a family.
We are saving money in avoiding the fast food drive thru lanes.
We are going to the YMCA to workout as a family.
The child is enjoying evening "desserts" of apples and peaches instead of cookies/candies/cakes.
This is the best choice for us!  This is our family "just being healthy" and I love it that way!
If you want to know more about the Advocare challenge or products, let me know.  I'm no expert because I just started but I can share how each has helped me so far.
